L&D specialist? HR guru? Hands-on team player? Have we got a role for you…

At Focusrite we want our people to be both successful and happy. It seems a simple ambition, but we need an experienced HR/L&D specialist to help us realise it fully. We are looking for someone with the skills and experience to assess and design the optimum people management programme, as well as fulfil the hands-on, day to day functions required to bring that programme to life. We really do value our people and we reward them well; this role can offer an extremely generous salary and incredible flexibility for the right person.

Who you are

You’ll be someone looking for a flexible and rewarding career at a senior level, perhaps a parent returning to work. You’ll have easy access to our head office in High Wycombe, though the role can allow for part-time home working at times to suit you; you can pretty much choose your own days and hours, as long as you are able to do the job excellently. You’ll have impressive HR, L&D, OD or talent management credentials and have the creativity and intuition to assess, design and lead complex development programmes. You’ll be the sort of person who always gives their all, is willing to do the legwork as well as the leadership, and who can happily work alongside a talented group of individuals with different skills, responsibilities and ambitions. You’ll also be comfortable in the Focusrite culture, a unique mixture of laid-back professionalism, creative drive and technical brilliance. We’re music lovers dedicated to being the best we can be, without compromise to our values or our personalities.

What you’ll be doing

Taking a consultative approach to assessing the requirements for development across the business, you’ll conduct training needs analysis, and either provide or arrange the relevant coaching, professional training or other development support to help our people perform at their very best. You’ll know when to outsource and when to take the lead yourself, and will be able to bring in your own creativity and experience while respecting and embracing the culture and processes of our flourishing business. You’ll also be happy to fulfil some of the administrative, functional responsibilities of the job, from holiday tracking to contracts management.

Your role will be to help employees reach their potential and raise performance through enhanced teamwork, helping to foster our culture of responsibility, excellence and pride in our work. There’s no direct line management responsibility, and you’ll be working with and supported by colleagues covering recruitment, contract law and admin, among other areas.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and implementing consistent, effective induction processes
  • Training needs analysis
  • Designing and implementing professional and personal development provision
  • Managing day to day HR administration functions
  • Providing focus and consistency to the personnel approach of the business
  • Talent identification, management and development
  • Leadership development
  • Championing the wellbeing, equality and personal fulfilment of staff
  • Making Focusrite a desirable place to work
  • Ensuring adherance to legal requirements and procedures

Who we are

We’ll be honest – Focusrite is a pretty great place to work, just ask any of the 180 employees we have worldwide. Incorporating both the Focusrite and Novation brands, we make music easy to make, from bedroom DJs to the greatest show on earth. Everyone who works here has an enormous passion for music: as it says on our website, sound is everything. We take that very seriously – though we have a lot of fun doing it.

Focusrite is a listed company (tune.l) with a market capitalisation of c.£170m and its products are sold in over 168 countries.  With permanent offices in High Wycombe, London, Los Angeles and Hong Kong, Focusrite is a truly global company.

As the number one selling audio interface brand worldwide, Focusrite has an illustrious, prestigious, and, let’s face it, cool history. Alongside Novation, the hardware and software that we develop plays an instrumental (see what we did there?) role in shaping the sound of modern music. From amateur to pro, our goal is to help musicians to make their music the very best it can be.

Music has always been an exciting thing to be involved with, and that’s not about to change. We embrace its evolution, and that means being open to new ideas. Our whole business is structured to let everyone contribute and be heard at all levels, and we make sure it’s a fun place to work.

Benefits include company pension, life insurance, private healthcare, and employee purchase scheme, (Plus, you get free breakfast and lunch in the canteen. No really.).  Company hack-days, making things easy days, lunch and learns, external visits – we’re all about innovation, fresh thinking and great, great products.

We work hard. We are professional. We select really, really talented people. And we absolutely love our work. So if you think you can bring something new to the mix, we’ll be looking forward to hearing from you.
